Ms. Prianka Persad

Quality Assurance & Surgical Services Manager
Ms. Prianka Persad is a coachable learner with a growth mindset. Eager to develop her skills and grow, she has demonstrated her commitment to learning about eyes and eyecare by pursuing studies, professional development experiences and examinations to obtain the following relevant credentials: Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT), Ophthalmic Surgical Assistant (OSA) and Ophthalmic Scribe Certified (OSC). Today, Ms. Persad is widely regarded as one of the top technicians in the eyecare industry in Trinidad and Tobago. She excels at performing Optical Coherence Tomography, ocular imaging - anterior segment and digital fundus photography, fluorescein angiography, A-scan ultrasonography, B-scan ultrasonography, Ultrasound Biomicroscopy, and Pachymetry. At the TEH, apart from serving patients, Ms. Persad has taken on the challenge of providing face-to-face training for colleagues who are pursuing their COA credentials. She supplements her training with hands-on skill development experiences and online resources such as the Aurosiksha online training suite obtained through the TEH's professional relationship with the Aravind Eye Care System. Ms Persad has also been selected as a Regional Ambassador with the Association of Technical Personnel in Ophthalmology, a forum used to generate awareness about eye care and advocate for the profession of allied ophthalmic professionals. Prianka’s hobbies include reading for pleasure, music, singing and cooking. Apart from her hobbies, she enjoys volunteering and contributing to charities (or activities that help make a difference for the lesser fortunate); watching a good movie, spending time with good-natured, good-humored people who can share a good laugh; and reading to increase her knowledge. This said, she is currently serving as the Vice President of the Caribbean Association of Ophthalmic Technical Personnel. Being genuinely compassionate, she listens and seeks to understand the obstacles and challenges others face, and strives to help wherever she could. She hopes that the TEH will inspire humanity through charitable events and influential partnerships. Believing that “consequence is no coincidence,” she has committed her time and talent to the mission of providing excellent, affordable eyecare to the vision impaired.
